3-way tie again. Lobos have advantage.

February 26, 2012 8:20 am

So here on out, New Mexico is given a huge gift playing the two bottom feeders at home.  How easy can you get?

UNLV still has two tough games- especially the Rams on the road in a must win for CSU to qualify for the tourney.  Wyoming is also a long-shot- but beating UNLV at the Thomas & Mack would at least give  the Cowboys a look on Selection Sunday.

The Aztecs have to play the last two on the road- neither a gimme and @ TCU especially could prove to be as fun as it has been for everybody else who visits stinky Ft Worth.

It seems like the Lobos have a huge advantage in terms of winning the conference outright, but the way they're playing lately, nothing's for sure.

UNM- Air Force, Boise State at home

Unlv- @ colo st, Wyoming at home

SDSU- @ Boise St, @ TCU

Mike Locksley Fired!!!

September 25, 2011 7:55 pm

An AP release earlier today (Sun, Sept 25th) states that coach Locksley was fired and defensive coordinator George Barlow is interim head coach:

I had been behind coach Locksley from the beginning, giving him the benefit of the doubt, especially given the best recriuting EVER the last two years, up to the Sam Houston State loss yesterday. i finally snapped, "He's gotta go!"

The new Locksley recruits are now playing. He now longer has that benefit of the doubt. We can't beat Sam Houst State at home??? Plus, we had 16,313 - worst attendance in almost 20 yrs.

I think it was worth a shot with him, it looked great on paper, but it didn't work out.

Good luck coach Barlow! And good luck to Rocky Long next year when we (hopefully) get him back!

What are your thoughts?

2011 football season preview

July 18, 2011 4:39 pm

It is getting close to another season of college football with a MWC that is revamped lets here your evaluation for your favorite MWC team.  As far as UNLV goes I believe it will be another long year I do think we will have a better record than last year but I am only predicting a 4-8 season but Coach Hauck has thing looking beter and I tend to think we will be more competitive than we were last year.  With each season bringing a bettter record than the previous one.

Boise Stste, Fresno State, Nevada

These 3 teams will make the Mountain West a better conference overall with the lose of Utah, BYU is no Notre Dame. I hate to see Utah leave The rivalries over the years with the Mountain West teams like BYU. Colorado State even Wyoming. Mr. Benson had tried to run the Western Athletic conference as a super conference and failed so the Mountain West was formed with 7 of the original 8 and added TCU. Now it has come full circle Karl Benson has lost the WAC the Mountain West is going to become a 12 team conference before the pac 10. Brigham Young can not make it as an Independent BYU would be smart to stay with the MWC.

Let us welcome Boise State

June 12, 2010 1:53 pm

The Boise State Broncos  finally joined the Mountain West conference yesterday. I am very excited to have them join, it adds more legitimacy to us as a football conference, and with the Big 12 on the downfall, maybe a BCS auto-bid is possible. As a Colorado State fan, I'm excited to get a chance to play them on the blue turf. With 10 teams now, will the expansion continue? Perhaps more WAC teams, or the castoffs from the Big 12? Only time will tell. Anyway, welcome to the Broncos and their fans, I look forward to the competition.
